Built around the symbol

The library contains 2,000 Unicode characters across 21 categories. Each record has an exact code point, HTML references and links to related characters. You can use the tools without an account.

Where the facts come from

• Unicode Character Database 17.0.0 supplies the official character names and code points. Decimal values, numeric HTML references and UTF-8 bytes are calculated from those code points and validated.
• WHATWG’s HTML named character references are the source for named HTML entities.
• Microsoft’s Word reference documents Unicode conversion and the small set of Alt codes included here.
• Apple’s Character Viewer guide documents the macOS insertion method.

“Source-checked” means a method is supported by the linked documentation. It does not mean every keyboard layout, font or app version has been tested. Unicode decimal numbers are never assumed to be Windows Alt codes.

Your searches stay in the browser

Search and copy run on your device. The keyboards keep a short list of recently copied symbols in this browser; you can clear it at any time. We do not read your clipboard or store your search history. Optional usage analytics, when configured, asks for your permission and sends interaction categories rather than your search text.

A note about appearance

Fonts and apps draw characters differently. Some symbols may become emoji, while unsupported characters may display as a box. Copying preserves the underlying character, not a particular visual style.
